ESL 5313 - Principles and Methods of Teaching ESL
The course is designed to examine the methods, principles and strategies of teaching ESL from the elementary school level to adult education with a survey of all current methodological and pedagogical theories and their applications. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills development are addressed in conjunction with the general language goals of interpersonal communication, interpretive communication, presentational communication, cultures, comparisons, connections, and communities (as stated in the National Standards for Foreign Language Education). ESL content-based instruction is referenced along with lesson planning.
